In the days of black and white ink
In order to play this video podcast, please hit "PLAY IN POPUP." Awhile ago, an ego bloated guy walked up to a pressman and said, "I'm going to put you out of business." Of course, he was joking. He was a blogger with only snippets of posts --opinions on stuff he had caged from other blogs. While blogging has seriously made a dent in the newspaper business --I could go into what Warren Buffett wrote in his annual report about their future, perhaps most bloggers don't understand that much of what they write about is gleaned from journalists who either still work for the newspapers, or did. Anyway, here are some photos of the LA Times Pressmen. Many of them were laid off this week, and it's amazing to look back in the day when the newspapers --both morning and late afternoon editions were our primary source of information (other than the radio and TV). Here are some photos of them, their history. While blogging might take the place of some of it, I can't help but think how great it was to have camaraderie of this closeness, as most bloggers sit alone at their computers with nary a person to talk to and aren't necessarily working for some common goal.
